Eight little-known Google applications that are very useful

We all know that Google has a lot of applications for Android. The ones we know many times are pre-installed and that’s precisely why we know them and use them every day: Photos, Maps, Gmail … Some of them are even fully integrated into the system, such as the contact’s calendar or the phone’s app.

In addition to all those apps known and used by all, Google uploads many other applications on Google Play that go unnoticed by most users. Some of them are for very specific solutions such as language keyboards but by searching we can find very useful tools. We show you the best, and unknown, applications for Android made by Google.

Datally

Launched in beta in summer with the name of Triangle, Datally allows us to manage the consumption of mobile data of our Android. Yes, there are many apps like this in Google Play but this tool fulfills its purpose very well and helps us from the first moment to lower the megabytes we use.

Once we give the appropriate permissions to the app, we will monitor everything in detail and will tell us where we can cut mega. It also has a list of open WiFi connections, which are not necessarily secure, to which we can connect in case of emergency.

Of the apps recently launched by Google for Android, it is one of the most useful. Simple and with a clear purpose to help all types of users, regardless of the level of knowledge. A few days ago we talked about it more in detail.

Find my device

Many manufacturers incorporate this feature of series in their Android. If you do not have it and want to use it, Google offers us an application that will allow us to track our device if we have lost it or if it has been stolen.

To be able to use it and take advantage of it, it has to be installed and configured previously. From there, from any computer we can enter with our associated Google account and locate on the map where it is. We also have the option to send you a message or block it so they do not access our information.

Files Go

With the passage of time, we accumulate useless files on our mobile or tablet: photos of groups of WhatsApp, temporary files of downloads … Little by little they are consuming memory until reaching the point of becoming a problem if we have few gigs of storage.

We also have the difficulty that many times locating these “leftover” files are not easy to locate. With Files Go, Google offers us an assistant that reads the memory of the mobile and locates all the digital crap that we are not using.

If you use Google Photos, it is a system similar to the function of detecting photos of receipts and invoices that is incorporated in this app. There are many options in Google Play but as with Datally, Google offers a very easy-to-use tool for anyone.

Photoscan

Scanning old photos is a somewhat tedious process. Yes, we can take a photo directly with a digital camera, or even our mobile phone, but we have to make sure it is taken correctly and the angle is correct so that it is as close to a scan as possible and not a photo, poorly made, from another photo.

Photoscan helps us turn the camera of a mobile into a photo scanner. With a help system based on reference points, we can scan analog photos very quickly. We move the camera where the app is guided and Fotoscan is responsible for doing the rest.

I have tried it on more than one occasion for specific images and I have to admit that the result is very good. A tip: when you go to do the scan, do it with good lighting conditions so that the results are better.

Google Trips

For some years now, I have been using my mobile phone to plan the trips I make. With Google Maps I’m creating routes and pointing specific points with different icons and colors to, before leaving, save the map without connection and be able to consult it at any time.

Google Trips goes a little beyond this process, which is sometimes very artisan, and helps us with different suggestions of places to see and places to visit wherever we go. It is a more guided process and if we do not want to complicate ourselves, it makes good routes and recommendations.

My suggestion is that you use it as a starting point and from there you go making changes because sometimes the plans you make are a little closed and not everyone has the same tastes and preferences when traveling and visiting places.

Wallpapers

All Android come with a collection of default wallpapers, some prettier than others. Android also has its own and also an own application to download them. Its name is as bland as functional: Wallpapers.

With this app we can download all kinds of images and backgrounds for our mobile or tablet. If we like to personalize, the range of options offered is wide and varied. Within its category is not my favorite, I’m a fan of Backdrops, but it fulfills its purpose.

Google Remote Desktop

Did you know that you could control a computer remotely from your Android? Yes, in Google Play there are several options and the one proposed by Google is not bad. It is easy to configure and if the connection is good it works very smoothly.

Although it may sound very obvious, to use this application we need to configure the PC previously that we want to configure by installing Google Chrome and an extension. We can not control any computer in the world!

To make quick queries (such as seeing the status of our Torrent client on the computer) is fine but if we want to do something more laborious, it is a bit more complicated. Keep in mind that a computer is designed to be used with keyboard and mouse, elements that in our Android are virtual and depend on the tactile.

Data Transfer Tool

Do you change your phone and do not want to lose all the data? Then Data Transfer Tool will solve many problems. Yes, you can make a copy of everything in the cloud but if we do not have the habit or we know how to do it, nothing is easier than a USB cable and this application.

Whether we move from Android to another Android or come from an iPhone or an iPad, we can transfer data such as phone book, SMS, photos, music … Its use is very punctual but perfectly fulfills its purpose.
