Gmail for Android: How to turn off the conversation view of your emails
By default, Gmail groups all our emails into conversations. When we respond or someone responds to an email, the response is grouped showing the most recent message at the end of the conversation.
Well, this way of showing the emails in the inbox does not like everyone, there are users who prefer to see the emails in an individual list, without grouping them in conversations. And this is what the Gmail app for Android now allows to do. We tell you how?
Turn off conversation view
Until now this feature was only available in the web version of Gmail, but now since version 8.7 we can also remove the conversation view in its official Android application. For this we have to follow these simple steps:
For Gmail accounts:
- Open the Gmail application.
- Touch Menu> Settings .
- Tap the address of your account.
- Uncheck the “Conversation view” box.

For Outlook.com, Yahoo Mail or any other IMAP / POP email:
- Open the Gmail application.
- Touch Menu
- Touch Settings> General settings .
- Uncheck the “Conversation view” box.
Once the Conversation View option is deactivated, the answers will stop grouping, they will be shown in the inbox as each new email we receive. We may have to wait a few minutes to see the changes.
When we deactivate the option “Conversation view” on both the computer and the mobile application, the changes will be effective on all devices. That is, if we deactivate or activate this option on the computer it will be automatically activated on our mobile, and vice versa.
